What is ActiveFX?
ActiveFX™ is part of the Bridge Therapy™ family of treatments which introduce a facial resurfacing treatment that cuts the downtime of recovery from laser treatment to just 4 days.
ActiveFX™ works by reducing the amount of skin surface that is treated by the laser to a fraction of the amount normally treated. Because of this reduced exposure, small ‘bridges’ of untouched skin are left enabling the skin to recover at a much faster rate than before.
Bridge Therapy™ utilises the latest CO2 lasers which produce a high energy light beam to even out lines, wrinkles and scars, remove blemishes and other irregularities, and tighten skin. As well as the immediately noticeable improvements, the laser also works in the long term by stimulating the formation of new, underlying collagen.
What happens during an ActiveFX™ treatment?
An hour or so before the ActiveFX™ treatment, an anaesthetic cream is applied all over the face ensuring the treatment is relatively painless. Metal lenses are worn in the eyes in order to protect them from the laser.
The treatment itself takes around 20-30 minutes depending on what the patient is having done and requires no general anaesthetic or injections.
Who and what is ActiveFX™ good for?
The ActiveFX™ treatment is good for older skin susceptible to age spots, sun spots discoloration and wrinkling. It is also good for anyone looking to get rid of facial scars, those suffering from skin problems such as rosecea as well as other dyschromias and pre-cancerous cells.
Who is ActiveFX™ not good for and what can the side effects be?
The treatment is not as effective on darker skin when used to treat pigmentation and blemishes. However, when treating lines, wrinkles and scarring, it is just as effective as on lighter skin.
The treatment is not recommended for those who have heart problems or who are undergoing chemotherapy.
There are very few side effects apart from a minute risk of being burnt. However this is highly unlikely to occur if the treatment is performed by a qualified practitioner.
How much will ActiveFX™ cost?
Cost of ActiveFX™ is around £1400- £2500, depending on the clinic and what areas are treated.
