What is Endermologie?
An Endermologie technician uses a small motorized device with two adjustable rollers and a controlled level of suction to gently massage deep into the layers of tissue under the skin, improving the blood flow and aiding lymphatic drainage. Common problem areas such as the lower stomach, hips, thighs, and buttocks can be specifically targeted, helping to eliminate excess fluid and improving overall cellular function. It is not unusual for a patient to wear a body-stocking throughout the procedure. The technician will also monitor diet and fluid intake and may suggest a programme of exercise to help target specific problem areas.
History of Endermologie
A machine once used as a deep-tissue massage for injured horses, Endermologie was developed into a beauty regime in France during the 1980s by Louis-Paul Guitay - who originally used the process to treat burns and skin problems.
Treatment
It is recommended to have approximately 10-14 sessions of Endermologie (along with a controlled diet and exercise) but it is important to regularly top-up the sessions every month after you have completed your course of sessions, as the cellulite only disappears temporarily. An Endermologie treatment does not hurt but may cause some slight bruising to those with more sensitive skin than others. Prices range from around £70 a session but discounts may be given when block sessions are booked.

Another treatment is Mesotherapy. This involves a small amount of homeopathic medicine injected into beneath the surface of skin to break down cellulite and improve the circulation. This takes about half an hour each time, and you should only need between seven and ten sessions.
TechniSPA by Guinot can be added to the growing arsenal of non-surgical treatments that aims to tone the body as well as firm up and smooth out skin. This treatment is coupled by a massage and the application of plant extract products, which simulate skin rejuvenation and help boost circulation throughout the body. Cellulite can be specifically targeted with this treatment as well.
